This song always snags my heart with delight.
A song of ascents.
1 When the LORD restored the fortunes of Zion,
we were like those who dreamed.
2 Our mouths were filled with laughter,
our tongues with songs of joy.
Then it was said among the nations,
“The LORD has done great things for them.”
3 The LORD has done great things for us,
and we are filled with joy.
4 Restore our fortunes, LORD,
like streams in the Negev.
5 Those who sow with tears
will reap with songs of joy.
6 Those who go out weeping,
carrying seed to sow,
will return with songs of joy,
carrying sheaves with them.
Tomorrow I am going to San Francisco, California to see a friend visiting from England. As my river-y thoughts slide the city’s streets in my memory, this song ripples through my spirit. I adore San Francisco, partially because I was born 44 miles beyond its fingertips and grew up with it as a convenient day trip location dotted in street performers, cable cars, and the ocean. San Francisco is full of gold and glory. It will flourish and know its KING!!!!! Yay!
Also, this song is great inspiration for prophetic songs for OTHER cities. Maybe you should write one for yours. If you do, let me know because I collect prophetic songs for cities and nations. I love vision for cities and nations. <More, GOD!>
Here are some songs by my friend Steve: http://highway19.wordpress.com/2011/02/26/prophetic-songs/
Meanwhile, hop into the hope boat and enjoy this one:
